I have a 1953 Chevy 3100 that I have been working on. I am trying to keep the truck close to original.

I was trying to find a source for replacement rubber pads used on the frame above the leaf springs.

Any help or advice in finding a source would be appreciated!

hopefully a link to a pic of the part I am looking for...

Steele Rubber

They have been making rubber parts for the auto collector for years. I remember them advertising on Hemmings in the early 1970's. You can look up parts online and order a catalog for your specific vehicle.

I know they make leaf spring stops. I just bought the stops for my son's 46 glove box door. Jeffrey

The last sets I got from Jim Carter and Classic Parts were smaller than the originals. As posted above, Steele Rubber is a good bet (but more expensive - and, worth the extra coat).

Are you looking for the pads for the overload springs? That might be hard to find. Do they look like the pads which go on front axles?

timber_cruiser,

From the photo those rubber bumpers you are looking for are definitely for the overload springs. REALLY impossible to find to find. Had the same on my 1949 3100 and was not able to find those anywhere. Removed the overload springs and set them aside just in case I ever find the bumper stops in the future.

Thanks for the leads on potential sources. If I do not find a match I think I might try to cut replacements from a solid block of rubber.

Snowplow blades have rubber insert bottoms, the stock I got is 1" by 4" by length, handy for making stuff.
