The new ones are about a half inch shorter. After trying to raise or lower the axle to make it fit...didn't work ,I measured the new and old...half inch shorter.

Why are you replacing the old control arms?
Bushings shot?
Why not just get the old bushings out of the original control arms out and match up some new ones?
Will the bushings in the wrong control arms fit your original control arms?
Last have you verified that someone already modified the rear suspension and that your current control arms are not stock?

Width of pad on axle wider on '60-'62 than '63 up, length may be different, never checked.

| | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 86 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 86 | I was replacing the coils because one was cracked. I had to heat the bolts off because they were gaulded. When I got the bolts out I noticed the holes were badly rounded and enlarged, that with the fact that the previous owner welded patches to the control arms because of the rust problems. I figured it was unsafe,so I decided to replace the arms.
I had a friend over last night, and we dropped the drive shaft, and that gave us the room to adjust the axle enough to get the control arms to fit.
