I'm about embark on upgrading my '55 1st to dual master cylinder (from original single). Have most everything needed including the dual-MC adapter bracket.

The brakes will remain all drums, with new wheel cylinders and hoses onto the front only -- rear axle assembly is a positrac from '71 Blazer and brakes & lines seem ok there.

I'm going to yank all the front brake lines out and just leave the rear lines including the very back axle 'tee'.

I figure the Front port of the MC will go to the rebuilt front brakes & new hoses.
The Back port of the MC will go to the rear brakes via a 3/16" union that replaces the 1/4"x3/16" 'tee' at the right side frame rail. [That was via the tranny cross member]

But I can't seem to wrap my head around how to effectively plumb in the new fronts off the MC front port.

So, what I need before starting this project are some brake lines routing details from those of you who have done this project before.

A diagram and/or some photos would really help if you have any -- thanks.

Heres what was done to my 50

Dual circuit drum/drum

Basically the guy just followed the crossmenber and 90 to front, and 90 to rear

I removed those lines and went disc in front, but followed the same route with new lines

Hey thanks wink
So, how was the front left routed -- where is the 'tee' for those brakes? do you have a wide angle shot of the MC including that front left line?

The front left is routed as original

...bad pic...

The front left line takes off at the passenger side and crosses over at the ...front...

The only change was at the crossmember, where the tee was eleminated and the 2 90's were used

I'd like to keep my lines behind the engine block if I can.

For the fronts I was thinking of a 'tee' somewhere on the left frame by the MC and near the crossmember. And run one short line to the left hose.

Then from that same 'tee' head back over on the opposite (front) side of the crossmember directly to the right front hose (with maybe no union at all).
And so there will be a line on both sides of the crossmember.

But where to install that 'tee' as it is rather crowded on that side?
Hmm.. perhaps on the crossmember itself? headscratch

I guess I need a bit more input..

I tried that with my new line

You can see the new left front line in the top right of this ...pic...

It looked real good until I realized it it was going to interfere with the steering components.

I had extra brake like and re routed it back across the passenger side and used the original tee location.

Im sure its can be done, maybe someone will advise
