Anything will fit with enough cutting, sheetmetal, and bondo!

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

MacDaddy, a 54 Chevy hood will fit a 47/53 Chevy.Like I say when I'm sure....absolutely, positively, 100% sure of this. It will bolt up and latch when you slam the hood.I don't know about the trim, etc, but it will fit. I think some Stovebolter are fooled by the big difference in the shape of the grill. A little story for you, I bought a complete 54 parts truck. I have a friend who owns a 50 that has been in his family since 1950. He needed a hood. I sold him the hood from my 54 parts truck and it's on it now. So again, I'm tell you, it's the same. Been there, done that.

Thanks for the replies but i think i am even more confused. I just don't want to buy the hood and get it home and it not fit.
Thanks again i just may take a chance anyway.

Mac - take the chance! looking at a few of each I see no difference in 47-54, is the same on all years, and Ron's answer seems to cover it - it's been seen and done and works!

AD hoods are interchangeable regardless of year. The only differences will be the emblem mountings. This includes 54 & 55.1.

My 1959 Chevrolet parts book shows a common hood for all 1947-1955 1st series comm models (1/2-3/4 & 1 ton models)

AD hoods are interchangable within their respective model lines - a Chebby hood won't fit a GMC, and vice versa. They also won't interchange between light and medium duty trucks.
