It's raining in ontario . Just curious as my wipers are not the greatest .anyone take apart a vacuumed wipermotor and are they repairable . My wipers work very slowly and get stuck right in the middle of the window I have to reach under dash and pull on the wipers arm to help it along .I greased up the joints and it helped a bit and my fuel pump is a regular pump does not have the assist for the wipers on it . Wondering how does other trucks wipers work for fellow bolters.

Mine was totally seized. I opened it up and cleaned out the old hard grease. the leather paddle wasn't too worn so I greased it all up with Vaseline and put it back together. Works great now in the bench test. I added the vacuum pump type fuel pump to get the most out of it.

Not original, if that is what you are going for, but I switched mine of electric. There are lots of conversion kits out there and mine works well.

I guess it won't hurt to take it apart ,maybe even I will take apart my spare that is different anyway to see how it works and then try the one on my truck.if all else fails maybe even look into a electric wiper but looks like I would have to go to 12 volt.

A 6V electric motor was an option in 1954. I have one in my Suburban.

If you can find a "tomato can", put that on your truck and plumb it in the vacuum port. That will give you extra vacuum to assist running your wiper motor.

Lots of options thanks I will keep a eye open for a 6 volt electric and will try cleaning the vacuum motor and won't cost anything to put a tomato can in the line thanks again

"Tomato can" is slang for the cannister that was attached on the inner fender with an "in" and "out" for vacuum lines. It was called that due to it resembling a large tomato juice can.

I took mine apart and cleaned and that was 8 years ago and it's still working.Check out what I did on my pics under tico cleaning hope it will help.

the motor is pretty easy to take apart, clean, and relube. It should work better once doing that, although not as good as an electric motor. I had vacuum wipers on my Willys wagon. Drove it as a daily driver (in Seattle, known for rain!) and wheeled all over with it. I never got around to installing electric in the 18 years we had it. I did clean and re-lube the wiper motor a couple times though.

I also rebuilt my motor using Tico's pics as a guide. Used some lithium grease and it goes great. Pretty simple too.
