Have a 1946 2 ton truck that I am currently doing engine work on. I want to make sure the engine is a 1946 235. If not then what year and what engine is it.

Stamped on the block just back of the distributor is: DEA558832

On the top of the head is stamped: 839491 A207
CONV 13 or Maybe CONY 13.

Thank you. Jeffrey

Look to the front of the distributor, there should be raised numbers cast into the block not stamped. Then go to the casting numbers thread on this page, you can find the block and head there.

It looks like the head number used on the low pressure 235 block from 41 - 48 was 839401.
