Right now I am trying to fix my son's original 235 engine in his 2 Ton.

A later engine with bearing insert and full oil pressure would be nice and so would be a 261.

What later engines would be a straight bolt in swap?

Any 235/261, later-194-230-250-292 are longer, so must move radiator fwd In core support, same as GMC 302, etc.

The simple answer is that there are some adjustments to be made when changing to a any high-pressure 235 (or any 261) in a 1946 truck.

The easiest swap would be a 1954 or 1955st series 235/261. The only "adaptations" needed in those years would be to use a water pump, harmonic balancer, and generator with pulleys that match.
