Now that the front sheetmetal for my 53 is looking better decided it was time to focus on the many repairs that my cab needs.
Figured we'd start with the passenger side cab corner I marked the area I decided I needed to cut out with tape, and went at it with the cutoff wheel. This is the hole that was left when I was done.

http://www.chevygmcofkc.org/Gallery/showphoto.php?photo=3380&papass=&sort=1&thecat=3021 Next I took the patch panel and pushed it up as tight as I could on the outside, then clamped it from the bottom with Vise Grips and marked it from the inside. I then trimmed it down to fit the hole.
(Should have taken more pictures during this process but seeing as this was my first attempt I didn't think about it, I promise I'll do better on the other side.)
Turns out I trimmed a little too much off the patch panel as my gap between the cab and the panel ended up being too wide in several spots, as opposed to going and getting another $25 patch panel I ended up backing the space with a strip of scrap and using it to let me fill the gap with weld.
Anyway, here's the result. It still needs some finish work and I need to tap one spot I think I got it too hot with the body hammers but live and learn.
