I want to install disc brakes on my 53- 1300. I will need to change wheels to ones with a 4 inch back space.I would like to retain the 16 inch wheels with six bolt pattern and my original baby moon hub caps.
Is someone able to tell me if there is a later Chevy wheel that would work in this situation ?

You're probably going to find that 4" backspace will cause tie rod clearance issues, especially if you're still using the stock style tie rod. a 3 1/2" backspace would be better. With the disk brakes, you will need a wheel with a shallower drop well to clear the calipers. Best bet would be to contact one of the aftermarket wheel suppliers, such as Wheel Vintiques, to see about getting a set made in the diameter and backspace needed with the clips to fit the original caps. Late model Chevrolet 6 lugs wheels will have far too much backspace to work.
