Before I lost 3rd gear it would slip out mostly when I hit a bump before I totally lost it... could this be a misalignment issue? Anything I should try before I pull it? It just grinds when I try now.

Then crawl under and push the shift arm on the trans further into gear. If it moves, linkage isn't doing the job.
Look for oval holes, worn rods, or shifting box problems.
Other possibility is that the shifting fork is worn half through. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 1,624 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2005 Posts: 1,624 | Don't know for sure but.....can the 3rd shift fork not be turned around to get somewhat new metal against the 2nd and 3rd speed clutch ring. Mine was worn more on one side than the other. Just asking.
