The bushings I took out have no outer metal sleeve, but the new ones that I have found so far do. These old bushings look to have been in there for a long time, chances original. Do they not make the original replacement bushings now, or should there be a metal sleeve in there? Any help is very much appreciated, thank you. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 | I have not seen control arm bushings without an outer metal sleeve. So I can not say for sure that they never ever made them that way.
My first thought is that on the old control arm bushings the rubber separated from the outer metal sleeves and that the metal sleeves are still in the control arms. The replacements are just like the originals. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. The main question I guess, is the one in the sway / pan hard bar. There was definitely no bushing in it on either end, and when I checked at the local flap, it mentioned the number and that it also may require some machining. All of the ones that I have seen new, have the bushing on the outside. I have ordered bushings from an old truck part supplier, hoping to get the correct one, but they have not shown up yet. | | |
