Now I'm replacing bearings in the tranny. After complete disassembly we found no 'energizing springs' in the tranny. They need to be there for the synchronize to work correctly. They are unavaible from my tranny source "Anaheim Gear". Anyone know where I can source them? Thanks.

If they are there but worn you can move them over one notch to get a good locking surface. I have some but they have worn spots. (but useable) I use AG for bearings & seals but like most suppliers of this stuff their stock of hard parts has dried up. Send me a PM and I can get you some. Fred

Helped me out with my 3 sp.w/OD, ended buying a rebuilt unit from them. Not cheap, but it works perfectly. I tried moving the energizing springs a notch too, but it didn't work for me. Good luck

We were careful upon disassembly working on a large steel table that's 'tilts' toward the middle. We have looked to identify all the parts and they are not there unless they are somehow attached to a gear face and we missed them. We were thinking the tranny had 'eaten them', or left out in a previous rebuild. All the parts have been through a good cleaning so are squeaky clean. I'll look again and get back to you as the guy who is helping me is out of town tommorrow getting an update on his '54 build.

Has been in business for a long time and has a lot of parts for Borg Warner and Muncie. This is not his main job, so you may have to call in the evening or leave a message. http://www.dandltransmission.com/borg.html | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 1,624 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2005 Posts: 1,624 | Has been several weeks on this tranny and I need to finish this up. All is well and good with the 3 speed. Got it together CORRECTLY yesterday and it is in fine shape with almost everything new. BTW, the energizing springs were there, we just didn't know what we were looking at. First I need to thank "rfs56trk" for all the phone calls on trying to get this tranny right. He was a great help to us, 'the unknowing'. Second, a lot of parts are no longer made for these transmissions. But rfs56trk had me contact "Dave Waugh Transmission" , 562-325-7539, who has many of the parts you will need including the 2nd and 3rd clutch hub. In conclusion, finding a really good used tranny for these trucks will be very hard to do as they are old and have been really worked hard. Parts are there to make them run well for another lifetime. Let be clear on this one point. Attention to detail is everything. They will not go back together incorrectly and work...I think you know why I know this. Thanks.

I would take parts of several and build one. It wasn't never any big deal for me to take one apart and put it back together. Today Ive got a good supply them. I even got two of the 319 overdrive ones. Ive sold a member named Dellman two of the 318 three speeds for his trucks. good used transmissions for $100 each. | | |
