Got a '51 3600 that was originally delivered as a cab/chassis so has the short under-cab running boards. At some point in time someone installed a '54 bed on the truck. I want to install stock full length running boards. Will they still work with that '54 bed on the '51 truck?

The bed has nothing to do with the running boards. The distance between the front and rear fenders is all that matters. you may have to move the rear fenders forward or back to get the proper fit.

Thanks. Yup, I lumped bed and fenders together as they were all put on at the same time. Since there were other body mods made in '54 I didn't know if the bed and fender positions were affected thus impacting that distance between front and rear fenders. If anyone knows what that dimension would normally be in '51 I would appreciate your posting it here. Thanks.

The length of 1954 1/2 ton and 1 ton beds was unchamged compred to earlier years.

The length of 3/4 beds increased by 3 inches in 1954.

Wheel base lengths did not change.

Hate to say this but even though the bed and frame got longer the wheelbase stayed the same so I'll ASSUME the dimensions between fenders also remained the same. Now to locate long running boards. Thanks all for the info.
