I am trying to find the proper size hose clamp for the top of the bottom radiator hose. The bottom hose that attaches to water pump. Looking for the original type torque screw hose clamps. The ones I ordered for JC truck parts all fit except that hose clamp. Contacted Restoration Specialties and was told it sounded like I need a 2" I.D. hose clamp, but they do not carry this clamp. Can find a universal worm gear clamp, but trying to keep it as original as possible. Any ideas? Suggestions?

Tim

I tried E-pay, but the sizes advertised are not clear. I have been through about 4 different size clamps, none worked and it's starting to get expensive. I give up on the vintage clamps....what is everyone else using for radiator hose clamps? Anyone know what the official name of the torque screw split clamps, or who may still manufacture them?

Thanks,

Tim

Anyone know what years GM used the simple spring style hose clamps which require a special pair of pliers to install/remove?

Do you have your originals?

When I replaced my fuel tank, I reused the original split type clamps. Had very good luck soaking them in vinegar for a couple days and then some light scrubbing.

They went from very crusty to looking brand new.

JW51,

I don't have my original split type clamps. The P.O. replaced all the clamps with worm gear clamps. AGGGH!!

If it makes you feel any better....

I went to all that trouble with the fuel filler clamps and then said "screw it" when I got to the engine compartment and did worm gear.

Couple options:

1) I have to believe that someone is reproducing those clamps. Just need someone to tell us who.

2) There's a lot of trucks/ cars in fence rows or vintage salvage yards or barns. Just need to find one that hasn't been messed with, get the clamps, and clean them up as I outlined.

3). If neither option 1 nor 2 pan out, take the "screw it" approach. Unless you're trying to win shows...the only person it's bugging is you.

JW51,

Went with the "screw it" approach. If I find the proper clamps in the future I will change the out. For now I found some full stainless steel worm clamps. Thanks for you input.
