In the process of installing my new rubber floor mat from Jim Carter truck parts. All the accelerator pedal, dimmer switch, brake and clutch pedal holes line up great! The mat on the drivers side is 3/8" wider than the passenger side measured from the ridged section to the edge of the smooth section. Drivers side hangs past the step plates. Is this normal? The holes in the mat don't line up with the metal top mat retainers. The retainers are 1/4" lower than the holes in the mat. The parking brake lever hole seems to be too short for the lever to move to the full forward position, or parking brake engaged. Anyone else run into this with the rubber floor mats? I know I an trim the drivers side so it is the same as the passenger side, but what is the best way to get the top of the mat retained to the floor board when the welded in mat retainers don't line up? Will I need to make the parking brake lever hole longer, so the mat doesn't rip from engaging and disengaging the parking brake? Suggestions?

May be best to call Jim Caters and ask them. That one may have been defective they'll exchange it for a better one?

Hey Fixy, is that mat the one Carter advertises as the "correct" one? It is supposed to have the proper border at the top.

That's the one...but I think I may have got a left over model.
Too many imperfections.

I just installed a new floor mat in my 1951. The "punch outs" that they had on the back of the mat fit well in some spots but not in others. I find this is the case with most aftermarket parts (especially if you have done work to the cab.

To fit mine I took out the pedals and set it in so it looked correct on the floor (no gap). Some of the punch outs fit perfect (dimmer switch) while others like the top clips did not. Since the "punch outs" were not visible from the top and sturdy, I only used them as a rough guide and cut out my own holes using a razor blade. To make my holes I started with a small hole where I thought it needed it to be and widened it until it was close to the right size. I then took out the mat and cut the final shape with the mat on a bench to get a nice clean finish.

Second day has gone by with no response form Jim Carter truck parts on the floor mat. Guess they figure I'll go away quietly.

Is yours a low or high hump?
This winter I was in our California winter home and was at the coast where some of the suppliers are. Our 55.2 truck has a high hump floor and I was told that the rubber floors were so bad the suppliers returned them and were waiting for a better remould.
Customers were not happy with the high hump floor mats. Evidently the low hump versions although not perfect were much better. It seems that the three big vendors out west and one in Nevada that we stopped at were all waiting for a new high hump version.

In my short (6 months) experience with many of the AD Chevy suppliers, I have found that the "AF" suffix should be applied to most of the parts I buy. "AF" stands for "Almost Fits". But I have had much better experience with "The Filling Station", up in Oregon. Their stuff usually works - if it doesn't, they will gladly refund. I now do most of my restoration business with them.

The Jim Carter ones have the correct pattern on them. Do the ones from The Filling Station have that? I believe that is why OP went with Carter.

Never heard back from Jim Carter truck parts!! Telephoned them and was told the mat I received was the mat they currently carry. Told them about the issues, but was told I had bought the mat too long ago. Poor customer service in my opinion. Won't buy from them again.

Made it work with some careful trimming! Got it to work to my liking. Product is not as advertised.
