| | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | When mixing body filler I found it hard to find something that could be used as a mixing board and discarded without guilt or cost, but looking around the garage I could not identify something that fit the bill.
On the way to the parts house I noticed all the bandit signs and election signs posted along the road. I dislike these signs as visual pollution but recalled these are made from a plastic corrugated material that might be just what I need.
I pulled over and grabbed a few and cut them in quarter sections when I got home. They are just the ticket and I can use both sides before discarding.

We are always looking for mixing boards. I have been using the lids off large plastic pails. We do have an election coming up too! There's just one problem - most of the election signs are of thin plastic like garbage bags which are then pulled over a wire frame - these are much cheaper than coroplast ones. However, I did see a coroplast "house for sale" sign on a telephone pole on the way home; it's illegal here to hang a sign on a telephone pole - better do my civic duty and take it down!

You have a little squirt bottle of lacquer thinner to apply thinner to the mixing board and a scuff pad to scrub it clean. Then a rag to wipe dry. My tools are spotlessly clean at all times between mixings.

When I'm finished with a batch I scrape the excess off with a razor blade before it gets really hard. A little cleanup with lacquer thinner every now and then keeps it like new.
