They want to know what day I entered Canada. I know the month and year, and it was sunny, but not the exact day. They also want to know how much to take out in taxes every month.... HOW ABOUT NONE!?!?.... but don't ask for it at the end of the year, you buzzards. That's why I said don't ask for it all at the end. LOL>... I have no idea what the exact date is when I entered, just the month and year. They gave me a paper that I had for years and I am sure it had the date on it, but an anthropologist will maybe find it 500 years from now. Who keeps those things. I'm a piler not a filer. I am sure there is some government employee that can give me the exact date. THEY'VE BEEN WATCHING ME SINCE I CAME IN 1976! (she remembered the date all her life...I can't remember what I had for breakfast) Maybe E-Mail immigrations and see if they have one for you. They want to know the amount of taxes to take off your check......because they don't know about the millions in investment you have stashed away. Now I have a favour to ask....GMC 228 water pump..... where do I get it rebuilt? | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,972 Big Bolt Forum Co-moderator | Big Bolt Forum Co-moderator Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,972 | I don't know about around here, but I saw on a post that this place, http://www.hiteparts.com/columbus-oh-restorations.htm will rebuild yours. If you go that route, I see you live in Abbotsford. I use Sumas shipping and you can get it shipped there for a $3 charge for pickup. I am heading to Chilliwack today and will drop in at Kens. This current 52 GMC project has been a blast and will be sorry to see her go. My dream truck 1958 GMC big window has not presented herself yet. I thought about your OAP documents issue some more. If you have not been to Services Canada they would be my first stop. They are usually a lot of help with such things.....and its a Canadian Government service that has no fees attached to the visit. | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,972 Big Bolt Forum Co-moderator | Big Bolt Forum Co-moderator Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,972 | I don't think Ken's will be open on Family Day, or maybe even Chinese New Year! I have someone who does my tax returns and my advisor at Van City is free too! So If I get stumped I'll ask them. Good luck with your project. It's such a nice day today I might be able to wheel out the chassis of my 2 ton do some clean up on it. Although, I want to pull the engine and tranny off before I do that and I have my engine hoist hold up my cab right now. May have to build a cab cart first. Otherwise, you're giving the government an interest-free loan all year!
I'm as patriotic as anyone, but I draw the line at letting a bunch of incompetent bureaucrats use my money all year for free! Jerry

But I must say we get a lot of bang for our buck. We have good schools, and I can see the doctor when I'm sick and for those colonoscopies, where can you have that much fun for free!
I got all the papers done and last month got me first old foggie check. I like getting those. I just don't like paper work. Now we have to go to the government office and prove my wife, who is Canadian, came back to Canada in 1976 so she can get her Canada pension starting in October. I would think you wife could show taxes that she paid the govt would show when she came back, well maybe not, she may not be a worker... if a person has dual citizen ship, can they double dip and get two pensions.. sorry, just be curious not trying to be nosy

You have to have enough "quarters" to qualify. I have a neighbor who is retired and gets his Czech army pension of $50 every month.
