finally looks like spring is on it way up here in the north. anyway I have a 46 1/2t 216 that I am fairly sure that the engine is original and the exhaust connection comes straight down to connect the exhaust pipe and I have another 46 truck I bought for parts and the exhaust connection is at a bit of an angle towards the firewall I am just wondering what year it might be as it could have been changed or why the difference Thank you for you help | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Yes, the exhaust manifold did change from "straight down" to "an angle towards the firewall".
straight down: all 216s, and 235s up through 1949
angled towards firewall: 1950 and later 235, and all 261s
Note: COE, LCF, & D-D trucks had different exhaust manifolds, due to updraft carburetors
