Hello fellow bolters

finally looks like spring is on it way up here in the north. anyway I have a 46 1/2t 216 that I am fairly sure that the engine is original and the exhaust connection comes straight down to connect the exhaust pipe and I have another 46 truck I bought for parts and the exhaust connection is at a bit of an angle towards the firewall I am just wondering what year it might be as it could have been changed or why the difference Thank you for you help

Yes, the exhaust manifold did change from "straight down" to "an angle towards the firewall".

straight down: all 216s, and 235s up through 1949

angled towards firewall: 1950 and later 235, and all 261s

Note: COE, LCF, & D-D trucks had different exhaust manifolds, due to updraft carburetors
