For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 66 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 66 | My buddy is interested in a truck that is 700 miles from his home. He wondered if there is such a thing as a truck surveyor. He would like to hire someone to inspect the truck bumper to bumper. Between business and distance, he is unable to do it himself. Thank you, Scott | | | | | Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 1,101 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 1,101 | You won't find one in the yellow pages but if you get creative you can find a qualified inspector. Maybe a local old time mechanic that has a good reputation or maybe there is a body shop guy that does some classic vehicle work. It won't be easy with the 700 mile barrier. You don't have local contacts you can ask. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | What is the closest city?
I have done Internet searches for vehicle appraiser and found good appraisers. You can ask for references from customers that got appraisals for old trucks. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1,122 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1,122 | I used AAG (Auto Appraisal Group Inc.) a few years ago to get my '37 appraised for insurance purposes. They were thorough, and provided a written report with photos of the truck. It took the better part of two hours for the inspection. Their reported insured value turned out to be somewhat higher than I expected. They were not cheap. I intend to use them again when the '46 is completed. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,441 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,441 | Private message (on this site) Hotrod Lincoln, he does that sort of thing or maybe he can recommend someone.

If it's just a farm truck and he just wants someone to put their eyes on it you might find a member here willing to look at it for you. They could take some pictures and talk to you on the phone while they do a walk around. You can check the member out by looking at their previous posts and see if they meet your standards. If it's a high dollar truck, get a pro...
