Now that the metal work and rust repair is finished on the 49 I am at the point of locating a pair of front seats. The plan is to use the burb for long distance travel and adventures - and I no longer have the stock seats.

I replaced the entire front floor section with a new floor without the stock riser.

Suggestions? for seats that fit, tip and comfort? I did a search and found some suggestions but, wondering what more of the others have done to modify and improve comfort and safety.

I've used late 90s Chrysler van buckets & captains chairs. They fit re viewing height, easily bolt to my flat floor and offered all the options: power adjustments, heat & leather. And they were not overly expensive and in excellent shape. --54CarryAll

For my panel I used seats bucket from a 2003 Chevy Silverado king cab. The drive side is electric, the seats have build in arm rest as well as built in seat belts.
I've driven the panel to Stovebolt homecoming and to Kansas City. They are comfortable and relaxing.
I think the seats are the same for several years. Maybe 99-05

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Tom

I agree w the guys above. I also did the flat floor and used Chevy truck seats . My only adder is Depending on where they match up on the floor use a wide stiffener under the floor so they won't pull to in case some idiot pull out in front of you.

I like my old trucks to look as they did originally.

I (and my passengers) pay a very dear butt-pains penalty on long trips, even with my newly reupholstered and well-padded original seats.

I'll be jealous of you.

I like the GM seats with the seat belts built in, I'll be looking for 4 captains and a small bench for my burban.
