You are on the right path. The smaller numbers are coarser. But you want to use automotive grade paper. And you want to buy it at an autopaint store. Buy the best you can possibly afford.
DO NOT buy the "retail" packed stuff at the "McParts" store like Kragen, PepBoys and the like. Go to the paint store that supplies the body shops in your area. If you don't know where it is ask a shop. But you want pro-quality paper, it is WELL worth the money and is actually cheaper than the retail packs you find at the McParts stores PER SHEET. It may be cheaper because you don't have to buy much at a time. But if you just break down and buy a 250 disc roll or a 50 sheet pack it is MUCH cheaper by the sheet. Believe me you
