I went to go start it the other day and the engine would crank but it wouldn't crank over. I figured the battery needed to get charged and put it on the charger. Now, when I put the battery back in the truck the volt gauge goes to 10 volts when the key is on. When I press the floor starter pedal the volts drop to 0 and the engine doesn't even crank. I have no idea what happened between taking the battery out to charge and trying to start it. Any help would be appreciated.

it would be normal for the voltage to drop when you are trying to crank, not sure how much.. I am sure some one will chime in and help out..........how long did it sat previous when ever thing was ok compared to now..

The weird thing is that the voltage just drops and stays at 0 after I hit the floor starter pedal. I tried another battery out of my daily driver and it did the same thing.

What happens is when the truck is turned off the points are open and they oxidise. You need to clean the points with a point file or use about 600 grit wet and dry sandpaper used wet with contact cleaner (can also use brake clean, acetone etc.)

Works every time. The inside of at least one of the the terminals has enough corrosion to kill the current flow as soon as a little load goes on the connection.
