The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Original Heater?

1954 GMC. I don't have a heater in my truck, not going to be original but I like the look of the heater. Are they hard to find and are the cores easy to repair or purchase?

There were four different GMC accessory heaters in 1954.
GMC heaters would be harder to find that Chevrolet truck heaters.
The upper two heaters are almost the same as the Chevrolet truck heaters (the color and name tags are different).

I had the same problem so I repaired it myself. I discarded the coil and replaced it with coiled up 8mm copper micro bore tubeing. Cost next to nothing. It works but dont expect too much.

I've bought some of the economy heaters at local swap meets over the years, usually I see about one per meet. They are also on eBay for sale in various prices and conditions. I think the round cores are about the hardest ones to find, as the reproduction ones are pricey., but the blower motor in 12v is reasonable priced.
