Get it apart and down to bare metal before you make that call. If you can salvage the originals you'll be ahead of the game.

Thanks for the replys. Next Friday I am pulling the engine out and on Sat I am putting a new one in. Pulling the engine should take no more than a couple hrs and once its done then I will tackle the cab. My plan is to remove the seat carpet and pad (whats left of it) and get my shop vac in there and clean up the immediate areas around the rockers. Once that is done I will start on getting the rust out of there. Then vacummn the rest of the truck. I will post some pics when I am done if all goes well with the engine swap out.
