The Turbine Systems look like a good way to go. Its all new to me, what say the painting experts?

A turbine system is a "true" hvlp system. Most use about 8psi at about 60-80 cfm. BUT they are SLOW when compared to hvlp hooked to a compressor or good old conventional. Now with that said they are good for home owners because moisture problems are almost nonexistant and some of the cheap ones do a fantastic job. Like always you get what you pay for. thanks Chris | | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 | I knew a guy that painted his Karmann Ghia with a vacuum cleaner. Looked okay for a driver! He found a kit that used the outlet as an HVLP air supply. This was before HVLP becme a household word. I think Filter Queen stills sells a painting attachement for their units .
Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

I bought one from them and used it to spray the top inside half of the cab when I had my windshield out. I'm a novice. I didn't even know how to ajust the gun so, I just set everything that could be adjusted in the middle and had at it. Did a great job - I found out that I didn't prep well enuf (shouda sanded more to get the scratches out) but the paint went on great without runs and I was spraying fast and jumping in and out of the cab a lot. I am told that the results are superb. I chose a turbine system because I did not have a large compressor and did not want to spend a lot of money on air drying apparati. I had no money invested in a compressor, air drying system, and paint guns/equipment. The money I saved on paint, using an HVLP system, paid for for the Accurspray set-up. I chose Accuspray (23K) because of the reviews about its spray gun (and the fact that the gun is a non-bleed type). For my next paint job, I will purchase an Isaac gravity-feed non-bleed gun for priming. I bought the system from Compliant Spray Systems . Here is some general information about HVLP painting systems . Advice/Warning: if you will be using Epoxy or Urethane paint, buy/borrow/rent an air-fed "spacesuit" to cover every part of your body and to provide you with fresh air for breathing. These materials are dangerous. Tim | | | | | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 2 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 2 | I am using a Croix turbine system. Seems to work well. I am shooting single stage Centari. The only problem with the turbines are they tend to warm the air so you have to use high temp reducer.

I used it to paint one airplane and two cars. The plane turned out great in 1990, but the cars were a disappointment. The turbine creates a lot of heat, so you must use high temp reducers. I believe my problems stemmed from the change in paint systems from 1990 to 2004. I had horrific orange peel that had to be sanded out. My buddy who is a pro paint & body man said the problem was a lack of air pressure. Whatever the case, I have switched to a DeVilbliss HVLP and love it. Good luck. | | |
