Is this correct.
I have one that is Black tag and has stamped on the tag No. 72U (then a space and then the letter C stamped in with the word code out beside it like this: No.72U---C code

I just checked out my stash, and I've got four generators with black tags- - - -all of them are from 6V vehicles and they all have straight housings and spring bands. One I cross-referenced had a part number 11102749- - - -1948-54 Olds, Buick, Pontiac and Chevy. Jerry

I can now help a bolter in need. | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 190 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 190 | I would like to add some more info for kicks.....Your two basic Delco tags that were used in the 40s through the early 60s Chevys were black 6 volt red 12 volt just as mentioned above. The same black tag that was used on the 6 volt starters and generators was also the same black tag used on the Distributors regardless of 6 or 12 volt applications. Also, your 72U number is a Delco reman number and those tags were completely different in design. 72U was the reman number issued to 1102744 generator that was your basic late 40s early 50s 6 volt 30 amp generator. Typically when they start listing out Volts, Amps, series etc. they were on larger commercial type units. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | | | |
