Can anyone confirm the Eaton diffs (like the 14 bolt) have different spindle lengths for 1 one ton dually verse 1 ton single rear wheels. The dually is about 5/8" longer.

Same length for same model axle.
Some much later model axles do have shorter spindles, usually when equipped the disc rotors that slip over the hub, not behind the hub.

Can you clarify your question, and what do you mean with the 5/8" measurement?

I recently built a 14 bolt dually diff and in the process discovered 14 bolt dually and single wheel 1 ton/3/4 ton spindles are shorter by about 5/8" than the dually version. Since the 14 bolt design came from the Eaton it's logical to assume the spindle lengths would be different for dually verses single wheel configuration. I hope they are not, would save me swapping the diff case en lieu of just the hubs.

No, most all 14 bolts and for sure the earlier ones have same spindles for single and dual wheels. This is well documented and I have one of each here and have measured and swapped hubs, they're the same spindles.

What you have run into is a later variation on the 14 bolts that do have shorter spindles, but this is not about being single or dual. I have also had one of these short spindle axles, and it was an 07 model single wheel axle.
Lots of info and some pictures and measurements in this thread.

Try this thread for discussion and references proving that the AD 1 ton truck Eaton axles are exactly the same for single wheel and dual except for the stud length.

There is also discussion in a few threads about swapping the Eaton hubs onto a 14 bolt axle by changing some wheel bearings, this excludes the later model short spindle versions.
