First, welcome to the Bolt. This is a great site and the info here is great. I noticed that you haven't filled out your profile so I don't know anything about you. You may want to do this so the folks here can know what you have and where you are from. :confused:
I'm a hobbiest when it comes to painting and I don't usually have parts off for any length of time before painting, but I would diffently give the parts a coat of sealer. You can get sealer in a can ready to shoot.
I live in So Cal
so for me if I had the parts in the garage I wouldn't worry about it, but if you are in a wet part of the country, or you are leaving the parts outside, you got to seal them or they will rust.
