The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Paint Code Troubles

I have a 1958 Chevy 3100 Apache stepside. The paint code on the stamp inside the drivers door is 738D. I cannot find this code on any GM site or in any documents. Any Help?

I think that 738 is the paint code and D is the cab/body-style code (D = standard cab).

Here is 738 as a lower-body code - it might be what you are looking for

Bombay Ivory would be the upper-body code.

Someone like Bill could confirm/correct this.

738 is a combination number with Bombay Ivory as the Upper color and Kodiak Brown as the lower (solid single color codes end with A) ..... as Tim sez, D = standard cab (small window) [E = Deluxe cab, J = standard fleetside, K = deluxe fleetside], so I think that'd be just the cab roof Ivory, rest of the truck Brown, and there was at least 2 styles of that 2-tone pattern .... Tims previous page shows trim color [Arctic Beige] with the combo codes - good luck finding modern paint codes for any of those
