What was the finish used on the bumper? Weight? Anyone with pictures and/or actual experience with an installation and using one on their A-D truck would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They just do not seem to be all that common. Thanks.

I'm sure the fenders would be just fine in the event of a collision... My truck is a case in point. Had two bolt holes in each fender where a home built bumper was secured. One fender was pushed in as the bumper took a hit that pushed one side forward about 2 inches. There's also a crease in both fenders along the top the bumper. That POS is NOT going back on the truck.

The attachment to the fenders just seems a bit odd. This may explain why it appears that so few survived and are still in use. After the first rear-ender, I would bet several were sent to the scrap pile! | | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 486 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 486 | When restoring my 64 I found a heavy duty bumper on a gmc 4x4 in a junkyard. It was originally bolted to the rear fenders on it's original truck but I trimmed it off and just let it wrap around the back of the fender a little. I didn't like the idea of it being attached to the fenders. This bumper was very heavy and I burned a lot of acetylene to get it straightened out. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn214/jfnar/1964%20chevy%20truck/61e515e5.jpg
