How does the wood attach to the front panel? It looks like the bed strips, stop short of the front panel. But there are multiple holes on the front panel. Pictures would be a great help.

Holes are drilled into the bed wood to align with the holes in the front bed panel. Carriage bolts pass through these holes to attach the wood to the bed panel.

Some of the 46 front panels had two bolt patterns in the lower flange. You don't need to put a bolt in every hole, just use the ones that are near the center of each board. And your bed strips should extend to nearly touch the front panel. The bed strips do not attach to the front panel.

Thanks. My strips do stop short of the panel. I way wondering if a washer and bolt attached between the two boards and bolted to the panel, or bolted thru the board to the panel?

Check out the mar-k.com site. Lots of info on truck beds. My truck is not with me but as I recall there are no cariage bolts through the front bed panel and rub strips. Abut 2-3 inches back a brace goes under the bed wood and that is where the carriage bolts are including the two large cam washers and bolts to bolt the bed to theframe. mar-k had most of the dimensional information.
