Installing the new weatherstripping channel for the glass I see that the door is missing a channel inside for the weatherstripping to fit into.
The driver side door had this channel in it, but the passenger side does not.
I see where the channel is available for 1951 - 1955 1st but not for 47-50.
Any idea where I might find this missing piece?
Can I adapt the later model channel to fit the door so something holds the padded weatherstripping in place? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | It is common for this to occur on the front channel holder, the channel on the rear of the door is replaceable but not reproduced as far as I know. Rear Channels You can cut the rear to fit the front and then you need to spot weld or J-B weld it in place, the front is welded in place from the factory. You can find these channels used and NOS on eBay or you can place an ad in the Swap Meet section, (right or left) will work for the repair. This is not a simple fix the door needs to be stripped and most likely off the truck to work a lasting front replacement. But an old friend of mine still has a 50 Chevy truck cab with the doors. It happened to still have the piece inside I needed. I'm lucky the family of the man hasn't hauled it away yet as scrap, but I took a chance and it was still there.
