Does anyone know where I can find any info for this generator such as amps ?? The Delco sight just says obsolete. Looking to replace the one on my 52 1/2 ton with a 235 engine. If it's a 3-brush unit, it won't work with the 3-unit regulators used from the late 1940's on up. Does the housing have one diameter all the way from front to back, or is there a stepped-down section? The heavy-current generators with the stepped housing usually had a big rubber grommet around the front mounting bolt, especially the 45 amp ones used on Buick, Olds, and Cadillac. Most Chevy and Pontiac generators did not have the front grommet, and they were 35-amp rated.

Better try again if you're looking for a high current 12V.

There never was a 3 brush Delco generator in a step down case. Three brush generators had the brushes mounted on the rear plate. The later model long and short "step down" cases had the two brushes mounted in the case itself and the end plate then became free of any brushes and or brush holders.

Pictures would be good in this situation!

This would have been typical of some tractor applications. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 190 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 190 | If your looking for a 12 volt replacement generator to replace the original one on your 52 you need to be looking for a long case step down 2 brush generator. The distance from inside of one end plate to the other is the same as on your original 6 volt and you can then take your original pulley and install it on the 12 volt generator....Your original pulley has an offset to it so you will need it. By doing this there is no mounting modifications involved. There were many many variations of the long case 12 volt generators used.......tell you what I will just send you a message with my contact info and I can help you find one or build you one.
