McMaster Carr certainly is a very well run company...I wish some other vendors would follow the lead.

Used them for years when I was in engineering. I would drop an order in purchasing in the afternoon and a box would appear on my desk sometime the next morning. I thought they must be hiring elves.

And their still just that good Jim. Just posted an order a few
minutes ago to put the finishing touches on my 1912 Lodge & Shipley
lathe and I have all the confidence in the world that UPS
will drop it off in the morn. I order from them at least a
couple of times a month and I can't remember the last time
that they back ordered anything, seems like they've always
got their inventory up to date. And to deal with the people
on the phone is an absolute pleasure. Hope they NEVER hire
a bright young CEO who thinks he can improve the company
with his bright new ideas. My pop used to say, when it's
running good......leave the hood down and don't mess with it.

What's an Android or an I-phone or an App???? A robot with a
human appearance?? You mean Ape not app right, some guy who's
working on the shipping dock?? Not familiar with I-phone,
I've got My-phone that my "big old wife" gave me a decade or
so back so I could call her on the way home from work to ask
if she needed milk or bread.

I couldn't agree more with everything said about McMaster Carr. I order from them weekly for work and for my own use. I love dealing with them. I was reluctant to start placing orders online simply because they were so great to deal with over the phone. Their quick overnight delivery makes them one of the high notes of my job. I've ordered as late as 3pm and still get my order the next day.
It sure puts other companies to shame when they tell you your package will arrive in a week to ten days. Even the great and almighty Amazon can't do that.
Their website is also great, easy to navigate and search.

Denny, you know what apps are, in the general sense anyway. I like the dark ages myself; however, I have noticed a good majority of pictures linked to on the forum are obvious & apparent "smart phone" pictures from their dimensions. If I like something new, as rare as that is, I can't help but share on here.

Prior to this application being available from McMaster Carr, their website's appearance & accessibility was awful - from a smartphone.

Yep, Jim - I think all Santa's elves work at McM in their 'off season' too.

Also- crenwelge posted about "Zoro" (owned by Grainger), so I figured I'd try them out. Their search is not as easy for me to use as McMasterCarr, but I have saved $0.08-$0.12 per item (capscrews, etc) on some pretty large quantity stainless hardware orders. Like everything, if you have time to compare per item cost, maybe look at them as well.

I just used one of the 20% off coupons from Zoro to get a hurge wheelbarrow. It ended up free freight shipping and $44 off. Again, I'm just sharing experience- sometimes cost savings is important...

I have a large Grainger outlet a few towns over and in the
past, every time I tried to buy from them they said they only
sell to legitimate businesses and unless I had a tax number
they wouldn't sell to me. So it's been some time now and I
haven't bothered to try since they've gotten their website up
and running. I do reference their online catalog occasionally
and notice dang near everything they list is twice or three
times as much as elsewhere, that's the other reason I've never
bought anything from Grainger. But.....McMaster isn't without
fault in that respect either. You have to watch their pricing
also on some items. Priced a 3-phase reversing drum switch
from them the other day and about fell off my chair when I saw
the price. $318.64, the very same exact brand of switch on
ebay, $118.98.

Just spoofin' ya a bit guys, sweetie face and my daughter have
I-pads and smart phones, so I'm aware of their existence,
just haven't felt the need to punch another drain hole in my
retirement account. A cheap old flip phone serves my purpose
for the time being. Why...I've even had one of those old land
lines run to the house for the last 73 years and am still using it.
I'm just gonna skip over the I-pad I-phone fad. What I'm
really holding off on is the perfection of the BCI implants.
I'll jump on board when I can get one of them. By then I'll
probably need one to communicate with my android care givers.
And I won't have any need for a My-phone then either, just
think and it will dial me up.
