hey guys can someone help me out? I have a chance to buy a 54 6500 flatbed for $300 it doesn't run...I need the grill and windshield for my 54 3100. The question is (I think the 6500 is bigger) will the grill and hood fit my 3100? The gentleman said it's not a C.O.E. ? I find that hard to believe....so tomorrow I'm gonna go take a look at it and make him an offer for some parts if he'll sell. can someone give me some specs? I have a factory manual but me and the misses just got a new house and everything is in Boxes and I can't find a darn thing. Thanks fella's and gal's

The 6500 grill is taller & wider. It will not fit your 3100.

just went through the same thing as you. I did it the dumb way though. I did the body work and painted the grill from the bigger truck (after paying 200 dollars for it) and then found out it didn't fit. Probably should have emailed you instead of telling the world but as you can tell from above, I don't always do the smart thing.

The cabs are all the same but all the sheet metal forward of the firewall is different.

The 5000 Series is a COE. A 6500 is a long wheelbase (179"), the 6400 is more common. It is a conventional two ton.

'54s also went to the one piece windshield so the inside dash is completely different from '47-53.

thanks guys - I guess I'll try and sale the whole truck minus the windshield for alittle less than I paid for it....
