I just ordered shoes from rock auto that were supposed to fit and they're about a half inch shorter on each side than the ones I took off.
I'm having a hard time finding ones that fit the 1 ton front. (I haven't touched the rears yet) Any suggestions where to get them?

If you're referring to in/out depth of the lining, that's critical, as would be diameter. 1-ton brakes are pretty scarce items, since the 3800 sort of straddles the fence between a pickup and a full-grown truck. Brake drums are just about impossible to find. It would always be possible to get the old shoes relined if you can find an oldtime brake shop with the equipment to rivet the new linings on or a baking oven to install bonded linings. I'd really prefer a riveted lining if possible. Jerry

You will need to find a shop to re-line the pairs you already have. More important is looking out for the keeper hardware for those shoes. Watch your parts when you break them down.
Also, if your drums are decent don't cut them. You can't afford to lose parent metal. It sounds like you already have them. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 116 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 116 | Thanks for the help. Yes, I think I may have found them. It's very frustrating and a bit confusing trying to find part for the breaks for this truck. The items that said would fit a 3800 are smaller, including the seals. They're probably for a 3100 1/2 ton. Thanks again.
