Will paint stripper put a dent in filler?
Or will I have to grind/sand it out?

I originally intended to sand the whole thing but someone at work mentioned stripper.

Yes paint stripper will eat into the filler but only so far.....then you have to apply more stripper and do more scraping.

I am actually getting some Aircraft Stripper to strip down my truck. Hopefully I will make some progress by this weekend, but I was told that it would work great on filler.

I was told the regular stripper wasn't that good and to make sure I got Aircraft Stripper.

Let me know how yours is going...I will do the same.

I think most strippers create a bulge, not a dent.

Yep, you want Aircraft Stripper . It does a decent job of removing filler, but as mentioned above, you will likely need more than one application and scraping to get it all out. Hope this helps.

you can always put a good coat of stripper on and then duct tape a bag over the area so the stripper does not dry out and the remove the bag an hour or so later... A wire brush on the grinder also does wonder on the loosened paint, just dont do it with no T-shirt on that stripper burns when it gets stuck in your chest hairs...

Some strippers like to do a little grinding but it depends on locals laws if it is allowed or not.

Well..I played with the stripper for the first time tonight (HUSH TONY! ). It is pretty cool!

There are some spots that I didn't get too good. BUT, I also have some grinding to do on some rust areas and some repair work, so I will get it.

That aircraft stripper is fun! Yeah...I know...takes little to entertain me, but was cool coming off and seeing the coats of primer and paint under it (I also know it won't be fun anymore once I do more then just the hood) .

Thats my hubby's Trans am (hubby is a pontiac guy)..I am stripping his Quarter this weekend. He wants me to paint it a 'intense blue' for him..but I refuse to do it until I can drive around in all black primer...I just love black primer. I know..I am a meany ain't I :p

Body filler can be removed in a variety of ways.

Grinding(sanding) is effective but makes a lot of dust and noise.

Stripper works, too, but takes a lot of applications if the filler is thick, and it's messy.

If there's a lot, and it's thick, I like to use heat, such as a propane torch, or a mild flame from an oxy-acetylene set up. No dust, and no gooey mess from the stripper, but it stinks, instead. It works pretty fast, and doesn't require enough heat to do any damage
