For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 35 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 35 | I need some direction...Can someone guide me to detailed suggestions for replacing floorboards, rockerpanels, cab outrigger supports, and even the bracket that holds the fender-to the support -to the floorboard. This is sort of like 10 questions in one post, but it's a big job for someone who's never picked up a welder. I need step by step here. All components are going bad fast...heck they are nearly GONE already.
It's a 65 Chevy C-10.
Thanks!
REQUIRED READING: Truck, by John Jerome (aka "The Book of Truck") Zen Trucking

If you get a chance to look at it, I think you would find it useful. The book is listed in the Summit catalog (under books -page 218 in my version). Also I have seen similar articles in one of those "Classic Truck" type magazines. Another source is Tom(?)Brownwell(?) "How restore your Classic Chevy Truck." I'm pretty sure that is not the exact title, but most of the old truck parts suppliers such as Chevy Duty have it.You'll recognize it right away. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 | I just finished the passenger side on my 64 & I'm about 3/4 done with the driver's side. I'm using a borrowed MIG welder & bought a spot weld cutter. I only cut out what needed it. I cut rust out, then laid the repair piece in place, scratched a line, then cut the patch. This guy took pics as he did it, was a great help to me http://community.webshots.com/user/65k10 | | |
