Sold the AD 46 back in May to take care of life's pressing issues and back, but this time looking at a '63 stepside short wheelbase, as close to stock as possible. Relocated to Corpus Christi Texas so any assistance from those local or at least in Texas would glad to start chatting. Looking for a good starter truck, junkyards for parts and finds, etc. All that this entails. Look forward to hanging out on the 60-66 side.

The 1963 with IFS and the knee knocker cab is a favorite. I like them a lot. The grille is a one year item and not reproduced. I'm sure you know all this already. If you find a good one we'd all like to see it. Good luck searching.

So here is the new girl. She will need some work but is quite capable of more than garage time.

That's a beauty. What are your plans?

Hey John,
My primary plan is to drive it! I started a ground-up resto on the 46' the day I got it. Worked on it 4 years. She was ready for grease, fluids, and the shake down and I had to sell... never drove it.

This one I am going to keep as stock as possible too, but thinking repairs will be individual projects. Will try to purchase items and refurbish, then replace the worn stuff - maybe it will eliminate down time.

Starting with two primary things... column shift for the TOTT, looking for a column or two from other 63's to rebuild, info on how to and refurbish and swap (got some awsome pics from Jay already)
Second, want to find some 16" wheels and put 215/85 R-16 radials on it with 54' double embossed bow tie hub caps. Always liked a 3/4 ton stance on truck.
I plan to do the same kind of thing on my Flickr page as I did for the 46' photo documenting project and fixes. Look forward to getting back in the garage a bit.

That looks like a good truck to start with.

That's what I wanted when I found mine, I wanted to be able to drive it, and work on it as I go, I'm going customized tho, it had already been altered, so now I'm free to do what I will. Great looking truck buddy!

Just last week did some major digging with numbers and it appears there is a 65' 250 in it. I have pulled the number one plug but my eye sight is not good enough to look at the piston top to confirm.

Stock as possible? You can start by giving the headlight bezels their black eyes. This detail only appeared in 63 on the painted grilles only.

Black ringg around bezel
, subtle, factory, easy... those little things are cool to me. I looked a bit and behind the grille is black as well.
