Would like to change from linkage to cable for my accelerator. I have fentons and made a new rod to go to the bell crank but I think a cable from the bell crank to carb would work better. Does anyone have any pics

A bit pricey but Lokar makes nice cable set ups for just about anything. I often use Ford cables cause I'm cheap and lazy. Cheap gets one for ten bucks at a local junkyard and lazy lets one just drill a round hole in the firewall instead of making the square one GM uses. The Ford cable has a return spring built into it and a floating accelerator pedal so arm to toe board angle is forgiving.

What is the reasoning behind the cable? What is wrong with the existing linkage? Is it in the way of something?

I had to make a linkage when i got the truck running and it works ok but with the pedal to the floor i can take my hand and raise the throttle arm another half inch. it's fixable but was thinking of a cable set up.

just tweak on the linkage some more, I ended up making the one rod twice, the first time wasn't just so. You probably encountered the same problem as everyone else. One lever (the bellcrank on the block) goes in the forward to back orientation, while the linkages on the carb goes side to side, and the hole the rod comes up through isn't all that big, and when you actuate the throttle, it binds up somewhere, right? I enjoy doing that kind of thing, it's kind of the principle of the whole thing to me. However you can use a cable if you like of course. Just a thought is how to route the cable in such close proximity to the exhaust. I mean it can be done I suppose, it's just that I know it can be done with a rod as well. But it is entirely up to you.

i'm sure spending more time with the rod would be the way to go. That's what i'll do.
