I'm trying to determine if I got half ton fenders or big truck fenders with my '39 Chevy pickup project. Would someone with a '39 half ton be able to give me some basic measurements on their front fenders? What I'm after is the size of the wheel opening at the bottom of the fender from front to back and also the overall length of the fender. Thank you very much!

I just went out to my $20 parts truck to have a measure ( it looks the same as your project heap , LOL ) ,, it's a bit hard to pick a spot on a curved fender and say , from " there " , but the fender seems to be about 51 inches long , 22 inches wide at the point where the front of the hood contacts ( just behind the headlight ) and the wheel arch opening is , roughly, 31 inches across the gap at running board level.
Best of luck fixing it up , my project heap is a '52 Ansair Flxible Clipper , and MUCH worse . Don't let anyone talk you out of doing it , too much satisfaction to be gained in the build and finally getting to drive it again.

Thanks, Dusty. That's pretty much the same measurements I've got on my fender so it looks like I've got half ton fenders after all. That's good, now I just have to get them straight. Wish I could have gotten this one for $20, that's about what it's worth. Really it's the type of truck that someone's uncle should just give you, but I don't know anyone with one of these and California is pretty well picked over for old tin. Can't wait to drive this thing, but I'm just going to have to be patient. And industrious. Thanks again!
