Also, can I replace the large groove pulley on my 6V gen. with a small groove pulley? Not sure if the gen. I have with the small pulley is 6V or 12V. I am swapping the 216 for a 235 and the 235 had a 12V coil and I assume a 12V gen. Thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 43 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 43 | I have decided to go with the 12V gen. since the coil, points, etc. are already 12V. I will change to a 12V regulator and use ballast resistor on the fuel gauge and heater motor. After changing all the light bulbs, I should be good to go. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated! | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | I have decided to go with the 12V gen. since the coil, points, etc. are already 12V. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated! You might want to use a Runtz style resistor on the input side of the fuel gauge. This resistor/reducer should work fine with 6v motors and other 6v accessories/options. | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 43 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 43 | Thanks for the suggestions. Does using the 12V gen. and coil provide that much of a "hotter" spark? The current spark appears to be weak. | | |
