Happy New Year! I am the guy that just bought a 52 Chevy Pickup equipped with a 235 with a bad miss. I posted that I wanted to possibly replace the 235 with a 283 or 409 that I currently have but wanted to correct the miss and drive the truck for a year or so before making my decision. Well today I began with a compression test as a starter in order to tackle the miss. Ok, wires are off and the plugs are out and here goes, plug #1, 115 to 118. Plug #2 115 to 118. Plugs 3, 4, and 5 record 115 to 118 as well. Ok now time to crank the engine and check #6 plug, and you may have guessed it, nobody home, a solid Zero! Now what as I lean back on the bench? Then I remembered what I was told to do that I learned on this forum from you guys. I removed the valve cover looking for a stuck valve or bent push rod. There it was, #6 push rod was un-seated! I uncranked the top bolt, seated the push rod, and cranked the bolt down to it's original position. I the took a compression test and it came up a 100. Originally the plugs were fouled but #6 was wet with fuel.
I replaced the valve cover and the miss was gone. The truck still runs a bit poorly but that is from the leaking and poorly set carb. I removed the single barrel Rochester and it is going to be overhauled. I also have all the parts for a total tune-up. I must take this moment to thank all of you who responded to my original post and for saving me a ton of money and time! Again, Happy New Year and a huge thank you!

Hope you set the valve clearance so you won't burn a valve.

I recommend you find a Carter YF Carb, far better than the rochester and a one for one switch.

You might want to post the year of your 235 and/or the Engine Serial Number (pressed into the block to rear of the distributor.

The carburetor fittings (bolt distances on the intake manifold, in particular) differ over the years.
