| | | Joined: May 2012 Posts: 574 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2012 Posts: 574 | a friend recently gave me a set of very nice stock rims off of his 1997 silverado 4x4 to put on my apache, 6 lug 5.5 center to center, but my only challenge is that they are a little wider than the originals so the rim hits the tie rod when I try to install it on the front, backs have no issues. can I use these to solve my clearance issues? http://www.amazon.com/6x5-5-6x139-7...ords=wheel+spacers+6+lug+chevy+silverado not trying to go for a hot rod look, just something to get it rolling. thanks in advance

Install new longer lug studs if needed to securely tighten lug nuts. Me and a buddy done this to his '59 Apache on S-10 frame. I have also run the spacers on some 4x4's without issue. You should be able to buy the spacer and new lug studs cheaper than the item you are looking into. (My '55 2nd series 3100 uses the adapter/spacer on the rear to convert 6 lug to 8 lug. Just how the rear was made to fit the NAPCO conversion with 8 lug front differential. (I stated "depending on the amount of clearance needed") Spacers are only 3/8 to 1/4 inch thick. You would have to stack quite a few to achieve the thickness you need. You are better off with the spacer/adapter you were originally looking at. I think that they would work o.k.. Personally, I would find a different set of rims with a different offset.(For the reason "Justhorsenround" mentioned. | | |
