The tag is PROBABLY missing because at some time in the carburetor's history, it was rebuilt by a commercial rebuilder.
The commercial rebuilders group MANY DIFFERENT CARBURETORS TOGETHER under one number (whether they should be or not); and DESTROY the tag so an informed customer does not realize they are getting the WRONG carburetor.
Using the number for the original carb to obtain a kit for a non-numbered carb is risky.
Jon. Good carburetion is fuelish hot airThe most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify. That would at least help give an idea whether it MIGHT be the original carb.
Edit: Go look up your original Carb ID thread Tclederman mentions the throttle body inner diameter being different from the 235 carb.
