The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Is a 235 engine available new/rebuilt?

The 235 in my 1954 Chevy is smoking and needs new rings and seals. Just wondering if any of the engine guys offers a long or short block in this engine?

Jim Carter's sells rebuilt 235 short blocks and heads. Since I have never bought one of these, I have no recommendation.

I dimly recall that there is a company in Mass. that also sells rebuilt blocks (and/or will rebuilt yours) - maybe someone else knows the name.

I just got an "estimate" from a local (to me) rebuilder. $1,650.00 to do the long block, including the machine work, boring, honing, magnafluxing, etc.

They are very helpful and I think I remember seeing something in their recent catalog about offering rebuilt engines. I think they might even have a variety of stages in the rebuild process in case you might be interested in customizing.
