Hi guys

I've got a 1951 3/4 pickup.
I want to do power brakes.
I have a T-5 with floor shift...so I need the clutch.

Is a hanging pedal or under the floor booster better/easier????

Most under the floor boosters are made to work only with auto transmissions. I've looked at the bracket (under floor) & I think I can make it work with some modification.

I don't care about originality or looks. A booster on the firewall is also ok. Should I be afraid of any difficulties with a firewall mount? The firewall mount is much easier maintenance.

Just want opinions as to what's easier.

Thanking you in advance....Carl

If one uses a firewall mount, don't forget to brace the firewall.

Firewall on these trucks will not hold up with out some structure modification. Ugly too. This is not a recommendation, just a picture: https://www.tuckersparts.com/Spare-Tire-Bolt-Kit.html
The diaphragm is a small diameter one to fit under the floor. These come as a "kit" form lots of vendors and do fit in the space pretty well. I don't think the T-5 is wider than the SM420 but I could be wrong. Ask in the HiPo section for better help.

I vote for under the floor, cleaner and less work.
The T-5 is a small transmission, should have no trouble fitting a booster down there.

We have one specifically for the 3/4 and one ton. Under floor that allows stock clutch pedal. Are you using the stock pedal and linkage for the T5 clutch setup, or Hydro or cable?

My 48 came with one under the floor, and has 4 drums but a lot of stop. It's nice to have the extra room in the engine bay.

Dave, I'm in the exact situation as Carl; haveing a 51 3600 that I'm currently installing a T5 in using stock type clutch and pedal.

In a quick check of your site I didn't see the booster you mentioned. I've very interested in a booster/master cyl setup if you can help. May be best to email, I'm not familiar with forum rules for this area discussion.

Yes is specifically for use with the stock brake and clutch pedal. You may have to make some mods to the trans cross member if your using it on a 3/4T, but the one tons didn't have any issues. If your using a cable clutch then you may have to reroute the cable
