Is anybody out there using the 215 75r 16 BF Goodrich
Long Trail tube less and is there any issue , I know about the rivets but plan on welding them shut. I have done a search but never got a clear answer.
Thanks

A lot of people run tubeless tires on '54 wheels. I've never heard of welding the rivets though. Seems to me like a spray epoxy would do the job quicker and easier.

I agree with Cletis. If the wheels are in really good shape, the rivets shouldn't need much more than that.

I think I might consider silicone sealant as a rivet-head sealer. If there is any flex, paint might crack?

Does the sidewall information say "tubeless" anywhere? The construction is very different between tube type and tubeless tires, which would be much more of a concern for me than possible seep leaks from rivets. Epoxy-type paint, or even 2-part primer inside the rim after a good bead blast should handle anything but a severely loose rivet.

If anyone knows a factory warranteed tubeless 16" radial truck tire, please post a link to it.
sorry: I meant, "If anyone knows a factory warranteed inner-tube 16" radial truck tire, please post a link to it."

215 75 16
or
215 85 16 (probably better for a stock 6.5" width 1/2 ton wheel)

It seems that a LT 245/75R16 is as narrow a 6-ply rated radial tire commonly available. Most of the truck-rated 16's I can find advertised are somewhat taller/wider.

The 215/75/16 is more likely a P rated SUV tire, rather than a light truck tire. That size is common on the crossover "cute ute" vehicles that have pretty much replaced the minivan.

I found the 215 75R 16 size in an old post from 2010 BFGoodrich Long Trail .
I don't have the tires here yet but it dose say Radial and there is nothing there about needing a tube.

layback,

215 75R16 has a narrower rim width (and narrower tire/section width) than the 245 75R16

Both have about a 30" diameter (which will be "taller" when mounted on the narrower rim).

The narrower 215 75R 16 will be a better fit on an original relatively-narrow wheel.

That size tire is readily available from a variety of manufacturers.

The question about using/needing a tube is probably regarding rims that might leak air.

There are supposedly no radial truck tires that allow/specify tubes. Some people (tire pros) have posted that warranties are voided if you use tubes in tubeless radials. My dealer installed tubes in one set of tubeless radials and told me he would honor the warranty.

If you look under "Tons of Fun" forum for a post titled "DexStar 16x6" you will see some discussion on that tire size.
