The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Powdercoat Color Matching?

I'm a total newbie to powdercoating (and painting in general) so here's a potentially stupid question. I am considering powdercoating some wheel rims for my '54 GMC. We're hoping to run a stock restoration two-toned color scheme. There are some Diztler (?) chip colors posted on the web from the GMC archives (www.oldgmctrucks.com). How do I get powdercoating consistent with these chips, hoping to match original colors?

Good question. I was wondering the same thing. I'm planning to paint my '54 in the teal blue/cumberland blue combination. What colors are you using?
I'm still trying to gather enough 16" wheels so I haven't checked on the powder coat option yet.

been there - hafta do it the other way around - powder colors are finite, not mixable like paint, so you hafta find a powder color closest to what you want, then match that when mixing the paint - many colors you won't come even close

Cletis: our truck is currently two tone green. According to Old GMC Trucks Ditzler chips and the Old GMC Spec sheets the colors are (lower) Jungle Green and (upper) Huron Green. To match spec I would hit the rims with Neptune Green.
Red: Thanks for your insight. I may have adapt if I want to go powder on the wheels or switch to paint on the wheel rims if I want true stock hues.

51PhatBoy, mine is red with the white top now but I like blue. My parts truck is blue and I love the color of the steering wheel. I'm having it matched for the top, interior and wheels. I'm assuming it is the Cumberland Blue.
